Biography

Conservatory training, Baroque scholarship, and the science of the voice.

Training and vocal research

Pianist and soprano Angela Luglio is a graduate of Naples’ historic Conservatory of Music San Pietro a Majella, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Piano, followed by Master’s degrees summa cum laude in Chamber Music (with Valeria Lambiase) and Singing for Musical Theater (with Anna Vandi).

A specialist in Early Music, she holds a Master’s degree under the guidance of Antonio Florio and was part of ScarlattiLab Barocco, the groundbreaking project co-directed by Florio and musicologist Dinko Fabris to research and rediscover forgotten Neapolitan repertoire.

Masterclasses

She has honed her Baroque style in masterclasses with such celebrated artists as Lia Serafini, Emma Kirkby, and Sara Mingardo, and her opera repertoire with Maria Isa Ercolano, Anna Vandi, and Carlo Lepore. In 2021, she was chosen to study Baroque singing with Andreas Scholl at Siena’s prestigious Accademia Chigiana.

The science of the voice

Fascinated by the science of the voice, Angela is a certified Estill Figure Proficiency (EFP) practitioner and is currently training to become an Estill Master Trainer (EMT).
